On February 21-22, 1969, the Fugs had their final concerts of the 1960s at the Vulcan Gas Works in Austin, Texas. They were not to perform for the next 15 years. By April we had finished our final album for Warner Brothers/ Reprise, The Belle of Avenue A, and I was ready to retire for a few years as a band leader.
