Why is my uvula touching my tongue

I get small white roundish patches over the gum, the tongue and the walls of my mouth for many years. These create burning sensation when touched by food and disappear after a week or so. I maintain good oral hygiene. I need to know if this is a result of any food deficiency or something else? Please enlighten me.
