ValleyStar Credit Union, formerly known as Martinsville DuPont Credit Union (MDCU) was chartered in 1953 and was originally chartered to serve the employees of the Martinsville DuPont Nylon Plant in Martinsville, Virginia. The Martinsville DuPont Nylon Plant was the second nylon plant in the world and was built in 1939.
