The 4.6 sohc has been put into a '98 4x4 but I'm not sure what all was done. '98-up coil spring Ranger can handle even the 4.6L dohc, there's 4" more room between the upper control arm mounts than the torsion bar front. That extra 4" is huge when it comes to engine swaps.
