His primary research interests include comparative urbanism, urban political ecology, gentrification and neighborhood change, aesthetics, and urban (geo)politics. He is the author of Monstrous Politics: Geography, Rights, and the Urban Revolution in Mexico City (Vanderbilt University Press, 2023).

Urban sociology attempts to account for the interrelation of subcultures in urban areas, as well as the internal structures of segments of society.
