A lot of the other Ascension Perks aren't that great. And for myself specifically, sometimes I do just skip species-modifying ascension perks. Because things like Dyson Spheres, Matter Decompressors, Mega Ship Yards, World Crackers, and Ecumenopoli are honestly stronger than psychic powers, genetic manipulation, or turning into a toaster.Take Synthetic Ascension, ascend, then replace it for something like Galactic Force Projection. I really don't buy into the argument that late-game positive trait removal is a major advantage at this point in Stellaris development. Functionally, two of four ascension paths have total pop-trait rewriting capability (biological ascension and synthetic), so total pop rewrites hasn't been the exclusive reserve of bio-ascension since ever.As for ascensions, go either Psionic or Genetic.
