Skull cavern level 100

I used stairs the last time I plumbed the depths of the skull cavern and got far deeper in the mines than I ever did with bombs. I don't think I reached level 100 though; I kept seeing iridium nodes on the map and finally decided to go after them at around level 85 or so. I got 149 iridium ore (IIRC) before getting killed by a mummy.

Common wisdom seems to be that you should rush to level 100 ASAP and only then start looking for iridium for max efficiency. You don't have to minmax it, but indeed you won't get much luck around level 20. Honestly, the Skull Cavern really is the best bet. Do one good run into the low 100s and you could be set for iridium for the rest of the ...You'll want more like 100 bombs. You could also just use 99 staircases, but you'll get a different dialog if you use more than 10 staircases. It's worth bringing at least 10 staircases though, to skip levels that slow you down. Go on a max luck day. Bring at least 100 bombs and some combination of food/drinks that gets you luck and speed.Run through bombing large clusters of rocks and just ignore most of everything until you hit floor 100. Bomb iridium/diamond etc rocks if they're in a cluster of rocks to save time. Jump in every hole you see. Complete the quest and by that point the floors will be just stuffed with iridium rocks.Go to the Skull Cavern on a good luck day. Have a chest prepared with the supplies you need and use a warp totem to go to the desert immediately (don't wait until 10:30am for the bus). 4 extra hours makes a big difference. You can have buffs from one food and one drink.I got to level 120 of the regular mines, am a level 7 combat, wearing Space Boots for extra defense & immunity, and have decent weapons (obsidian edge & yeti's tooth). I go in with full health and bring Life Elixirs and high recovery snacks but I CANNOT get past even 1 level of Skull Cavern or the Quarry Mine.If you have Dwarf translation unlocked then it's very easy.
