My doctor took me off metoprolol

About a month ago, was feeling lousy, some dizziness, fairly low pulse (low to mid 50’s). Did bunch of tests and stress test, and determined dose was too high, so initially cut dose in half. Went back and cut dose in half again, then went for ekg last week and cardiologist took me off it completely.

My doctor took me off metoprolol. I read that it can be very dangerous to stop taking it. I take 25 mg metoprolol succinate, split in half. Once in the morning with my flecainide, and then again in the evening for a second dose. He wants me to take half in the morning and skip the evening dose for two days, then stop entirely.

The short answer is yes. You should always be careful about weaning off Metoprolol. Recently I tried going from 25mg per day to 12.5mg, and I felt the side effects. Some people are more sensitive to it than others, but any cardiologist worth their salt will tell you to be careful. I also get anxiety induced PVCs.
