Best monkey knowledge btd6

From watching videos and browsing this sub, it appears that so much depends on the monkey knowledge point upgrades. I only have about 27 of them, I invested them in mana shield and the hero upgrades. It seems I have a long way to go. I was wondering if there’s a well known method of going about collecting monkey knowledge points?
