We just love this campground. We live in the northern suburbs of Chicago and drive all the way around the lake to camp here. Full disclosure is that we have fallen in love with Michigan camping facilities and frequent 6 different campgrounds. Hoffmaster has the best taken care of facilities. Our favorite campground is Ludington 60 miles north.

Then like magic, there's beautiful Lake Michigan below you. The climb down is in the sand (no more steps). The lake is very secluded and there's a nice width of beach with some forested areas too. Climbing back up is quite a chore and your feet go deep into the loose sand and it takes real effort to get traction.
