The Classical era (1750-1830) We use 'classical music' (small C) as an umbrella term for Western instrumental, orchestral and choral music. But the Classical (big C) era specifically refers to music composed between 1750 and 1830. Classical era music is sometimes even referred to as 'Viennese Classicism'.
