The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County (HAWS), established in 1965, is an open admissions shelter that leads the community in animal welfare and offers sanctuary for animals in need. We envision a community where all animals are treated with compassion, dignity, and respect.

HSSC places animals on a first come, first serve basis. After an animal that is available for adoption has been met with, and only then, the animal’s name can be put on an application. The animal that is applied for must be adopted within 24 hours of approved application.
