Plasma caster is a good sniper. Minigun with shredder is great damage and almost zero upkeep, but melee range. Flamer does pretty huge damage at a very short range (don't mess with the nozzle unless you want to commit to modding the gun every log-in). Gatling gun and ultracite gat laser both suffer a bit on DPS for different reasons.I’ve been actively avoiding getting the plasma caster because I’ve seen it in action, and while I see it packs a punch, it looks pretty underwhelming to use.
