A. John: The fourth Gospel. 1. The Gospel of John is the fourth section of what some call the four-fold gospel, with four voices giving different perspectives on the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Christian writers as early as Origen (A.D. 185-254) understood that there are not really four gospels, but there is one four-fold gospel. a. John warned us against these antichrists in his first letter ( 1 John 2:18-23, 4:3 ). They are those who not only oppose Jesus, but also offer a substitute “Christ.”. ii. This spirit of antichrist will one day find its ultimate fulfillment in the Antichrist, who will lead humanity in an end-times rebellion against God. 1. (4-5) God’s call to Jeremiah.
