E3200 extender setup

E3200 Extended Solid Yellow Light. I paired the extender to my router using an RJ45 cable, waited until the light on the extender turned solid white, then unplugged and moved the extender upstairs. When I plug the extender in, the light flashes white for a few minutes then turns solid yellow. Any ideas? which router are you using.
