Jul 4, 2023 · Draft2Digital (D2D) has been on my to-do list for a while, but I didn’t want to share my thoughts until I used it. Now, however, with a couple of months under my belt and a few ebooks published, I can only say that Draft2Digital really looks like it knows what it is doing. Like Smashwords, which is now part of D2D, it is an aggregator. Draft2Digital. Draft2Digital is most indie authors’ aggregator of choice. Praised by many who have “gone wide”, D2D has an intuitive interface, ebook auto-formatting, stellar customer support, and plenty of free tools and resources. Its automated back matter is particularly handy for series.Just from an accounting perspective, this is a huge selling point. Draft2Digital keeps approximately 10% of the retail price for each sale an author makes. This is still better in comparison to Amazon who takes 30%. But you do have to work harder to make book sales on both D2D and Smashwords.It means that you cannot have your ebook available on both Amazon and Smashwords or Draft2Digital at the same time. That’s why it’s called exclusive publishing. But if you want to enroll in KDP Select, you will need to plan ahead.
