We had to closely monitor the vines and irrigate vigorously to maintain canopies and cluster health. To further assist the vision of high quality, estate focused wine, Drew acquired a second estate vineyard, Bob Healy, in 2011, and a third estate vineyard, Flying B, in 2016 which will become the future home of Doubleback as we break ground in 2017.

The season continued hot as we grew canopies and got through bloom. During June, right after our Doubleback release weekend, we experienced a long slough of days well over 100 degrees. I remember the winery weather station hitting 118 degrees. We had to closely monitor the vines and irrigate vigorously to maintain canopies and cluster health. In our unwavering enthusiasm for the Walla Walla Valley, we have made the decision to create Bledsoe Family Winery—a sister project to Doubleback. During our time in Walla Walla, we strategically developed three estate vineyards—McQueen, Bob Healy, and most recently, Flying B—each with its own exceptional set of characteristics. Doubleback is Drew Bledsoe's premiere winery of his three brands and all the wines are fantastic.
