You'll notice that there essentially aren't any kinetic special weapons in the top ten other than Chaperone. If you want to use a shotgun, then that's a great option. There used to be a quest to get Chaperone, not sure if that is still the case. After that, consider the IB shotgun, the Dares of Eternity shotgun, DSC shotgun, etc.
