Community-based participatory action research

Community-based participatory research (CBPR) is regarded as an equitable research approach that is operationalized within a social justice framework. It has been referred to as a continuum of research approaches from action research to participatory action research.

In an extensive synthesis of community-based and participatory research literature, Israel et al (1998)4 propose the following key principles of community-based research widely accepted in the field of public health.
