Camp Takajo is a special place, that despite the dramatic changes in our society, remains uniquely unchanged for the last 65 years. Our kids leave behind their laptops and cell phones and for 2 months get back to experiencing life the way it used to be. Sending my kids to Takajo has been the best thing I could have done for them. Last night, Camp Takajo hosted our closing campfire of the season. This traditional event has taken place since the very first season in 1947. In the final campfire, a few campers are selected to join the administration and read about the heritage of Camp Takajo. Campers in each division are selected to represent their peers.For camp counselor positions at Takajo each counselor will live in a bunk with seven to eight boys and will be expected to lead or assist in a particular activity. Jobs at Camp Takajo require dilligence, hard work, and skill, especially the camp counselor positions. The swim area at Camp Takajo is fantastic! Situated on Long Lake the swim area is the size of 3 Olympic swim pools. There is a sandy beach, 8-lane competitive swim pool mirrored by an open play area and deep-water areas. The deep-water areas have 3 rafts with a slide, low diving board and a high dive platform.
