Boat runs slow at full throttle

Messages. 3. Mar 16, 2011. #1. I have a 2002 Mercury Outboard 115 EFI 4-stroke that sputters and stalls when I bring the throttle from high to low/idle rpms. To avoid it, I have to bring down the speed really slow. Or sometime when I'm at low idle speeds it will sputter and stall. New plugs, thermostat, and fuel/water seperator filter.

Sep 12, 2012 · I have a 97 mercury 115, it is slow accelerating and does not run well at full throttle. It runs its best at 3/4 to half throttle. Replaced all of the fuel lines, fuel filter, spark plugs, checked and reset pick up timing and full throttle timing, checked ignition system. After around 10 minutes of operation, it shouldn’t run into the same issue again. Your main focus should be removing all the unit’s old fuel.
